The Buffalo Stars Continental Junior teams will be in action at home this weekend as the Pittsburgh Junior Penguins come to town for a pair of double headers at Holiday Twin Rinks in Cheektowaga.

The Buffalo Stars Continental Junior B team will play host to the Pens Junior B team as both teams match up pretty evenly on paper.  The Pens are currently in 7th place with a record of 4-4. They are led by Ethan Martin (9 points) and Cody Brenner and Eric Larson (8 points each). The Pens have the advantage in goals against (40 to Buffalos 55) but slightly less potent offensively 24 goals to Buffalos 29). The Pens are still reeling after suffering a pair of losses last weekend to league leading Philadelphia Blazers.  Buffalo is coming off a pair of large losses of their own at the hands of the Frederick Freeze 3 weeks ago. Both teams are fighting for one of the 6 playoff positions in the league.

Buffalo has been idle the past two weekends so they raring to go. The team is healthy and has had a great week of practice. With a 2-5-1 record, the Stars are in 8th place behind the Pens.  Led by rookies Andy Sturtz (9 points) and Michael Boice (8 points), the Stars are looking for a solid weekend of play in front of the home crowd.

Warm up for the Stars B squad is 7pm Saturday and 12:45pm Sunday.

The Buffalo Stars Continental Junior C team will also host the Junior Pens.  The Pens currently sit in 4th place in the league with a record of 4-4. They are led by Brett Hunter (8 points) and Stephen Gielarowski (7 points). Although having only scored 20 goals in their 8 games, the Pens have a solid defense. The Pens have been on a bit of a spiral of late having dropped 3 of the last 4 after starting the season at 3 and 1.

Buffalo on the other hand finds themselves in unusual territory in the basement of the league for the first time in their CHA history. With a record of 1-6-1, the Stars are looking to find their groove and string some wins together.  With a roster of only 16 players, the Stars tend to struggle in the 3rd period of games as they simply run out of gas.  Buffalo has found the trigger offensively scoring 31 goals but has given up 40 against. The Stars are led offensively by Ashton Laird (10 points) and Travis Densmore (8 points).  The Stars look forward to the comfort of the home crowd and look forward to a solid weekend of play.

Warm up for the Stars C squad is 4pm Saturday and 10am Sunday.
