THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF A 275 WORD GAME RECAP WITH PICTURES AND VIDEOS

The Sharpstown Wings took on the Noteville Flyers in a fierce head-to-head battle for first place in the division midway through the season.

FIRST PERIOD:

In the first period, the Wings came out strong.  Center, Charlie Daniels (shown above) had an early goal that was assisted by #14 sophomore winger Alan Lighteous.

Later in the first, the Wings struck again when Junior forward Keith Johnson made a nifty move around the faceoff dot.  Johnson deked the puck through the defenseman's legs, and made his way to the net.  In front of a well performing Ryan O'Hair standing in goal, Johnson slipped the puck in the upper glovehand corner.

The Wings took the first period by a score of 2-0 and outshot the Flyers 12-6.

THE SECOND PERIOD:

The second period saw a big lift for the Flyers.  They outshot the Wings by a final of 7-3.  One of those shots came off the stick of Zach Johnston.  Johnston took a slapshot from the power play off a pass from #44 Chris Prongernow.  The puck amazingly missed the net and carumed off the boards only to hit the goaltender in the back of the pads and go in the net!  It was surely a spectacle for all the fans at Hoirns Rink.

THIRD PERIOD:

The third period was all the Wings.  The team outshot the Flyers 9-2, and netted an empty net goal with :03 seconds remaining on the clock.  Credit Flyers captain Mike Morisison with making a valiant last ditch effort to lead his team up the ice and time the game up with an extra skater.

The two teams will face off again on March 7.
