Notre Dame-Fairfield High School Girls Ice Hockey Team started in 2005-2006 season. The Lady Lancers coached by Kerri Rowland and a member team of the CCGHL. Their home rink is the Milford Ice Pavillion in Milford, CT.

West Hartford took advantage of the lowest shot output (8 shots) by Notre Dame in winning 3-0. Stars for West Hartford were Brianna OConnor with one goal and an assist; Emily McCarthy with one goal and assist; and two assists for Toni Guiliano. Notre Dame is scheduled to meet West Hartford again at home Wednesday- weather and offense pending. After that their last league game is Saturday at Simsbury.

Uh-oh Jack, it looks like we are not gonna get our rubber match. You are gonna have to beat either West Hartford or Simsbury which is a tough task or you need Hand to lay an egg against West Haven and Hand despite their lack of wins always plays hard. Rick will have them ready especially if it is a chance to move up in the standings and get another crack at us.

Did Emily Corrales play? I didn't get to see her when we played because I had a jv game. I hear really good things about her. Did you have Molly?

Emily C. got hurt in West Hartford's game agasint Hand on 1/31, she has been out since. She is hoping to be back next week, but it all depends on the doctor and trainer.

I hope it wasn't a concussion. We have had 4 this year. I hope to see her this Saturday at Guilford.

She's a really nice player, great hands, knows how to win 50-50 battles in corners and along the boards.

She's amazing...one of the best on hall-conard. That game against hand the refs were just horrendous. They didn't call anything, and if they did it was against Hall-Conard. It got out of hand fast and they couldn't do anything about it. Earlier in the game Corrales was brought down BY THE NECK from a hand player. It was out of control!!

Elaine, I take it you are a West Hartford parent? I would be curious to know who did your game as the officiating can be rather inconsistent this year. I can assure you this, I have coached against Hand for 4 years and I know their coaches well and they are not a dirty team. Hockey is a fast moving game and every time someone goes down it doesn't mean that a penalty should be called.

I am a West Hartford parent of both a female and male hockey players and have watched alot of hockey games, actually over 11 years for both children. My observation of the Hall/Conard Hand game which Emily Corrales was shoved into the boards and when Emily was taken down by the neck with a hockey stick were unfortunate. I don't think any parent wants to see any player hurt on either side. I don't think the hand players were dirty, but Hall/Conard had better speed and the Hand players were having a hard time keeping up, thus the game was getting very physical. Actually, If I remember correctly, there were 2 larger girls on the Hand team who were fairly quick for their size, but may have lacked some skating skill. Emily is the real deal. My husband coached her, one of her first years skating. And she is the real deal. Quick, tough, and can finish the shot.

I agree, nobody wants to see a kid get hurt. We (Guilford) suffered 3 significant injuries on our trip to West Hartford in December and they were nobody's fault, just kids playing hard, an unfortnate part of the game. Luckily, everyone is back. I wish Miss Corales a speedy recovery, I was hoping to see her play Saturday.

It is too bad Emily missed the ND game. From what I hear she is like our top player who graduated last year, Emily Capaldo. Get well Miss Corrales. It is ironic about Emily Corrales getting hurt vs. Hand. When ND played Hand two girls got hurt. One Hand player went into the boards going for a puck against my daughter. Yes there was contact but there was no checking or boarding. It was unfortunate that the Hand player got hurt. What was an issue was the Hand coach telling my daughter it was here fault his player got hurt. It is never the place of a coach to admonish an opposing player. If he had an issue he should of addressed the ND coach.

I think it is always unfortunate when a player gets hurt. Thankfully Emily is healing fast, and probably would be able to skate this weekend, however her doctor's appt is not until Monday afternoon. I think girls play harder because there is no checking, there is body contact, and when you are a smaller player, Emily being one of them, it can seem as though a hit is harder. Emily is is under 5 feet and most of the girls she plays against at the HS level and with the NL, are bigger then her. She is a tough cookie (thank god) and we are lucky that this is the first time that she has had to miss any hockey. Also the Hand player that hooked her around the neck apologized to her at the game.
