Just as we've published in DI, we're committing this week's Weekly Feed to recognizing the players who have performed well for their respective teams throughout the entire season, and have particularly risen to the occasion during the month of January.

THE WEEKLY FEED:

It should be no surprise that the Niezgoda duo of Dean and Troy has been a major key to Nauset's success this season and the team's 13-2-1 record.  Through the month of January Dean Niezgoda has tallied 22 goals and 27 assists for a total of 49 points, while brother Troy Niezgoda has also net 22 goals and assisted on 19.  That means that the two twins scored a combined 53% of the team's total 83 goals up to that point in the season. Greg Lynch is third on the team with 26 points.

Kyle Larson is the midseason MVP for Danvers.  The junior forward had 16 goals and 14 assists on the season at the start of February.  Larson will play an important role in allowing Danvers to keep up with  #6 ranked Peabody when the two teams face off on Wednesday in Peabody.  There, Larson will match wits against Andrew Bucci, the leading goal scorer on the Peabody team and in the entire Northeastern division.

When it comes to goaltending in the Patriot League, Division III standout Jamie Murray grasps much of the attention, and even headlined a recent article in the Boston Herald.  But in the eyes of Hanover coach Jim Sylvia, it doesn't get much better than his net protector Matt Shearer.  The senior goaltender boasts a 1.33 GAA this season, and has kept his Hanover team in many games that would have otherwise resulted in worse outcomes.

If you're looking for goal scoring production look no further than Kevin Rooney of Canton.  Rooney has over 25 goals on the season and was averaging nearly 2.5 points per game through the start of February.  Rooney has been the beneficiary of the passing finesse of teammate Frank Eckler, who leads the team with 17 assists in the first 13 games.

In the Merrimack / Dual County League, it's quite common to see #16 George Lehner from #21 Ryan Doherty listed in the scorer's column of Tewksbury's scoresheets.  While Lehner led the league in goals through January with 10 on the season, Doherty was the top setup man for the league with 16 in Tewksbury's 14 games.  Meanwhile senior goaltender #29 James Berkeley led the Redmen in net with a 1.667 GAA through the team's first 15 tilts.
